Description

Product Characteristics: MED8 is a protein that is one of more than 20 subunits of the mediator complex, first identified in S. cerevisiae, that is required for activation of transcription. MED8 also interacts with elongins B and C, and CUL2 and RBX1, to reconstitute a ubiquitin ligase.
Target Information: This gene encodes a protein component of the mediator complex, which aids in transcriptional activation through interaction with RNA polymerase II and gene-specific transcription factors. The encoded protein may also function in ubiquitin ligation and protein degradation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
